If you are unable to vote in the advance polls or on Election Day, you may request a special ballot.
If you request a special ballot, please ensure there is enough time to receive and return it. While requests can made by fax or email, the ballot cannot be sent electronically. (This is because electronic transmission would remove the right to a secret ballot.)
The returning officer will do their very best to accommodate your particular situation. We will work to ensure you receive your ballot in a timely and efficient manner.
Complete your special ballot properly, include your identification, and return the ballot on time. Ballots returned late are rejected and will not be counted.
You may vote using a Special Ballot if you are unable to vote at the advance polls or on polling day because you are:
- physically incapacitated
- away from your electoral division
- serving as an inmate
- an election officer, candidate, official agent or scrutineer, or
- living in a remote area, as defined in the Election Act
Advance polls are open to all electors. Advance polls are held from 9:00am to 8:00pm on the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday prior to election day.
Polls are held on election day from 9:00am to 8:00pm on Thursday December 14, 2017.
