Advance Poll Voter Turnout

October 27, 2014

EDMONTON – Elections Alberta today announced preliminary voter turnout numbers for the Advance Polls that commenced on Wednesday, October 22 and ended on Saturday, October 25, 2014, in each of the four electoral divisions holding by-elections: Calgary-Elbow; Calgary-Foothills; Calgary-West; and Edmonton-Whitemud.

An estimated 9,698 ballots were cast in total by electors during the four days of Advance Poll voting in the four electoral divisions. This compares to 12,335 ballots cast in total during three days in the same electoral divisions during the 2012 Provincial General Election.

Alberta’s Chief Electoral Officer, Glen Resler, is encouraged by the voter turnout during the Advance Polls and election staff are prepared for a strong turnout on Election Day.

Today, Monday, October 27, 2014, is Election Day. Voting locations will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Voters are reminded to bring their Notice of Voter Registration Cards with them to the polls. If electors are not registered to vote, identification is required to validate their name and address.

Polling day voting locations are printed on Notice of Voter Registration Cards sent to all registered electors. A complete list of Polling Day voting locations is available at www.elections.ab.ca.

Special Ballot voting continues at the four local returning offices until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2014.
