Elections Alberta is currently recruiting Returning Officers (RO) and Election Clerks (EC) for Alberta. Additional applicants are needed in the following proposed Electoral Divisions ONLY:

(Please note: You can determine which future electoral division you live in by searching "Reports" on the Electoral Boundaries Commission website.) Proposed Electoral Divisions were recomended in the final report of the 2009/2010 Electoral Boundaries Commission.
Additional opportunities may become available and will be posted here at that time. Interested applicants in other Electoral Divisions are encouraged to check here periodically for updates.
There is one application and interview process for both positions. Successful applicants will be hired to the position that is best suited to his or her personal experience and abilities. All applicants should be aware that if the Returning Officer is unable to continue in the role, the Election Clerk will take on the Returning Officer’s role and responsibilities.
PLEASE NOTE: All the applications must be submitted using Windows XP or Windows 7 operating system. Macintosh computer software is not compatible.
There are two steps in the application process.
1. ASSESSMENT: Participate in an online assessment that tests your knowledge of electoral policy, problem solving, computer skills, and ability to research legislation. It is an open-book assessment. All materials are available on the next page (follow the “Online Assessment Tool and Resources” link below).
2. APPLICATION AND RESUME: Applicants who pass the assessment will be sent an application form. They must complete and e-mail the form to Elections Alberta along with a resume. Applications without a resume may not be considered.
Elections Alberta will review all applications and contact candidates for interviews. Please note: although Election Clerks will be hired from this group of candidates, their term of employment does not begin until the start of the next general election period.
Applicants not selected for Returning Officer or Election Clerk positions may be kept on file to fill future positions. Elections Alberta thanks you for your interest but will only contact applicants who will be interviewed.
