Building Future Voters
Please note: Building Future Voters program under review
Building Future Voters (BFV) is an engaging, non-partisan education program, offered in both English and French. It is designed to support teachers in engaging students in Grades 6, 9, and 12 in learning about democracy, elections, and citizenship participation.
On July 4, 2025, Bill 54: Election Statutes Amendment Act introduced significant changes to Alberta electoral legislation. Elections Alberta is reviewing and updating the BFV program to reflect the new legislation.
Please note: the BFV resources will not be available for order while the review is undertaken. Teachers may continue to order the election simulation toolkit to run mock votes in their classrooms.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Have you used the BFV resources? We need your feedback!

The election simulation toolkit contains voting materials needed to run a mock vote or a referendum in your classroom for up to 35 students.
Schools may order multiple toolkits, to a maximum of four per school. We encourage teachers to share the voting materials with colleagues.
Orders are processed within five business days and shipped to you at no cost. Please note delivery times may vary. A postal disruption may cause delays.
If you have a special request, please email outreach@elections.ab.ca or call 780-427-7191.
