Election Clerk Role

Election Clerks are appointed in each electoral division to provide election management support for the Returning Officer. The Election Clerk, under the guidance of the Returning Officer, assists in the administration of the relevant legislation in the electoral division and ensures all staff and election officers adhere to all requirements set out in legislation.

The Election Clerk assists the Returning Officer in preparing for the election, recruiting returning office staff, establishing a returning office and conducting the election.

If the Returning Officer becomes ineligible or unable to continue in their role, the Election Clerk shall be appointed as the Returning Officer.

Time Commitment

Election Clerks will commence their role in Spring 2026.

Election Clerks work full-time during the election period. Election Clerks must be available to work part-time for activities that occur outside of the election period such as attending training, preparing for the election, establishing a returning office, and post-election closing activities.

Available Positions

Qualified applicants from an electoral division will be given preference for vacant positions within that electoral division over applicants from outside the electoral division.
