Combatting threats to Election Integrity
Who is responsible for upholding integrity in Alberta’s elections?
The truth is, we all are.
Political parties, candidates, proponents, political participants, the media, and voters all have a role in maintaining the integrity of Alberta’s elections.
While Elections Alberta employs extensive processes to keep our elections secure, everyone who votes has responsibilities that help safeguard Alberta’s elections.
Voters
Voters can help safeguard Alberta’s elections by:
- Educating themselves about the legislation and rules by reading this and other websites, reading the voter information guides sent to them by Elections Alberta, and reading their Where to Vote cards.
- Participating in voting is the surest way to ensure your right to vote is protected.
- Ensuring they follow the rules when they vote by having the appropriate ID required, going to the correct voting location, completing declarations if they need to, and completing their ballots. Following the rules in a voting location is important to the safe and orderly conduct of an election.
