You can request a Special Ballot on or before polling day. However, in order for your Special Ballot to be counted, it must be returned to the Returning Officer of your Electoral Division before the polls close on polling day. Polls will close at 8:00 p.m. on April 16, 2019.
You can request a Special Ballot from your Returning Officer in person, by email or by fax (it is now too late to request a Special Ballot by regular mail).
You can also request a Special Ballot from the Chief Electoral Officer by presenting yourself in person at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, which is located at 11510 Kingsway Avenue NW in Edmonton. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer is open Monday – Friday 8:15 a.m. to 12:00 and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
You may only vote using a Special Ballot if you are unable to vote at advance polls or on Election Day if you are:
- physically incapacitated
- away from your electoral division
- an inmate
- an election officer, candidate, official agent or scrutineer, or
- living in a remote area, as defined in the Election Act
