How to Register a Prospective Candidate Association

Ensure the prospective candidate is qualified to be registered (learn more about the qualifications to run as a candidate). Complete a Registration of a Prospective Candidate Association form indicating it is for initial registration.

Ensure the financial institution section is completed with where the prospective candidate association has established its bank account or plans to establish an account.

The form will be signed by the applicant, the prospective candidate, and the chief financial officer. The applicant can also be the prospective candidate or the chief financial officer. The prospective candidate cannot be their own chief financial officer or the chief financial officer for any other prospective candidate or registered candidate.

Submit the completed application to Elections Alberta as an original document.

• If the application is approved, we will send a registration approval letter to the all the persons named on the form. A signed copy of the application will be provided, and the prospective candidate association will be entered into our registration records. We will provide the chief financial officer with access to our Online Financial System (OFS) or will provide manual financial forms, whichever is available, for meeting the prospective candidate association’s annual financial reporting obligations.
• If there are any issues with the application, we will contact the applicant.

IMPORTANT: A person cannot be a chief financial officer if that person is currently on Elections Alberta’s ineligible persons list.

Registered Prospective Candidate Associations

The official name of each registered Prospective Candidate Association (PCA) is the prospective candidate’s first name + last name + prospective candidate association. For example, “Paige Turner Prospective Candidate Association”.

The effective date of registration is the date the application was accepted by the Chief Electoral Officer, regardless of when the application was received.
