How to Register a Constituency Association

Bill 54: Election Statutes Amendment Act impacts all provincial electoral legislation. This page is being updated to reflect the new legislation, and as such the information below may be outdated.

Complete a Registration of a Constituency Association form indicating it is for initial registration.

Ensure the financial institution section is completed with where the constituency association has established its bank account or plans to establish an account. A constituency association with no plan to open a bank account should complete the section with its registered party’s financial institution information to satisfy completion of the form.

The form must be signed by both the chief financial officer and a representative of the party on record with Elections Alberta or the independent MLA establishing the constituency association. The party representative can be the chief financial officer, president, or another individual authorized by the party to endorse constituency association applications for registration.

Submit the completed application to Elections Alberta as an original document at our head office address.

  • If the application is approved, we will send a registration approval letter to the constituency association president, copied to the constituency association chief financial officer and the party chief financial officer. The letter will include a signed copy of the application, and the constituency association will be entered into our registration records. We will provide the chief financial officer and principal officer (president) with access to our Online Financial System (OFS), for meeting the constituency association’s annual financial reporting obligations.
  • If there are any issues with the application, we will contact the party official or independent MLA who signed the application.

IMPORTANT: A person cannot be a chief financial officer if that person is currently on Elections Alberta’s ineligible persons list.
